July 2026 marked the second anniversary for New Town's participation in the PORCH Williamsburg initiative.  PORCH works with a variety of local food pantries and community nonprofit groups to get food to those in need. 

 

Don't forget that these groups are trying to collect 250,000 pounds of food through September in honor of America's 250 anniversary.  Upcoming second Saturday morning pickups will be AUGUST 8th and SEPTEMBER 12th. 

 

Approximately 70 New Town households (or roughly 10 percent of our residents) donate well over 1,000 pounds of food and personal hygiene products each month to benefit local food pantries. While this is an impressive accomplishment, it doesn’t begin to meet the need in the community. For this reason, PORCH hopes to grow monthly donations by doubling the number of New Town households that participate.

 

Look for eblast reminders with lists of most needed items. Make your grocery shopping plan to join your neighbors in giving back this month!
